Whether it’s a favourite local wave or your dream destination each print is crafted to capture the atmosphere and beauty that makes it unique. I am constantly expanding our collection and welcome custom requests for personalised pieces.
Meet Tony Leishman
Blending a lifelong love for surfing and creativity.
I’m Tony Leishman of Surf Prints Australia. Surfing and creativity have been my life long passions. Growing up far from the coast, I spent my teenage years hassling anyone for a lift to the beach. At 17 I saved enough money working part time to buy an old Kombi camper so between attending several years at art school I was able to escape to the coast. Loaded up with my dog Zoe weekends were spent surfing and taking photographs along the Victorian Surf Coast by day and catching a few live bands at the local pubs.
Fast forward through years of surf trips and a career in advertising as a creative director, I’ve found a way to combine my lifelong love for art and the ocean. Through my prints, I strive to capture the magic of Australia’s coastline, celebrating the waves and places that remind us all why we love surfing. Surf Prints Australia is my way of giving back to the surf culture, and as I grow I plan to contribute to organisations dedicated to reducing ocean plastic waste and preserving our coastlines for future generations.

Creativity has always been in my DNA, and photograph was my first love. At 15, I bought an old Pentax 35ml SLR camera and whenever possible would shoot hundreds of surf images.I taught myself to develop black-and-white photos in a makeshift darkroom in my bedroom. Over the years, I've travelled extensively, with camera in hand, documenting surf spots and building an archive of coastal landscapes that inspire my work everyday.
Every Surf Prints Australia artwork begins with the essence of a surf location. Every break is unique. Whether it's includes a remote reef break, towering cliffs, or endless beaches, through a blend of photograph, digital design, and hand illustration. The challenge is to distill the essence of the location. By manipulating shapes, scales, and perspectives, I strive to capture the spirit and atmosphere of each surf break.
